'Katie Price has NOT been arrested!' Glamour model targeted by internet pranksters who claimed she had a car crash

Katie Price was the target of an internet hoax yesterday when pranksters hacked into a Twitter account to claim that she had been arrested.

The @policeuk account, which has not been verified but has more than 4,000 followers, posted yesterday evening: 'Model Katie Price arrested by police following a crash near her home.'

However, Katie, 33, was quick to refute the reports, writing on her own Twitter page: 'How can I of been arrested when I've been at my familys having dinner @policeuk you are sick making these rumours up.'

And two hours after their initial tweet, @policeuk came forward to apologise to the mother-of-three.

They wrote: 'Would like to give our apologies to @misskatieprice it seems our account was hacked, Katie Price is safe and well and has not been arrested.'

They later added: 'Seems out account has been hacked sorry for any confusion this has caused.'

Katie is a frequent Twitter user, and earlier this week exchanged a series of flirty tweets with her ex-boyfriend Leandro Penna.

After spending the day with her ex at a spa in Milton Keynes for Valentine's Day, Katie tweeted the model: 'You are so gorgeous my perfect prince xx'

And Leandro later replied: 'You're my perfect princess xx'

The pair split last October but have remained friends and have been seen enjoying each others' company on various nights out since.

However, shots of the pair spending Valentine's together are sure to spark speculation they have rekindled their relationship.
